The Konkani speaking GSB community migrated from Goa due to Portuguese oppression and settled in Mangalore in mid 16th century. By their hard work, integrity and steadfastness rapidly progressed economically, socially and culturally. Not only they educated themselves but also helped others in education and health sector. The result was founding of the GSB Seva Sangh in 1938 giving a new dimension of caring and sharing with have not’s which is pursued even to this date.
The Sangh was registered as a Society in 1938 formed by a group of likeminded service oriented youth of those Days and adopted a well-formed Constitution and Bye laws and major Aim of helping the economically backward section of the Society. It functioned in a small office in the car Street later in Sri Krishna Mandir in V.T. Road and Sri Venkataramana Temple and now in the present location. The addition of Sujir C. V. Nayak hall in 1967 is a major land mark in our history. The Sangh is managed by a Managing Board formed out of members from different categories as per the Bye laws. The Managing Board elects a President, two secretaries and a Treasurer from within the Managing Board.
The constantly and steadfast support of the GSB Yuvak Vrinda Fund in all possible ways was a key factor in the successful functioning of the Sangh in the last 45 years.
