Educational Service

This was started for Primary and high school students in about 1963 and in the last 55 years 40,000 students have been benefitted at a cost of Rs. 50 lakhs. In 1990’s this service was extended to college students at an additional cost of Rs.70000 per year. Students are presented with umbrellas, rain coats, school bags apart from the books and meritorious students felicitated every year in a grand program. Konkani being the Mother language of GSB learning Konkani in schools is specially recognized and supported by scholarships.

Home for the Homeless

The major program was launched in 1989 and 120 low cost apartments were built in 5 buildings over the next five years and handed over on ownership basis to LIG and MIG section of the community creating the first GSB colony in our own land. The apartment complex is now worth Rs. 20 Crores.

Health Care

Free charitable dispensary was the need of the hour and was opened by early 1960’s where senior modern medical practitioners gave free service to the needy. With changing needs today senior citizens are supplied with their medicines free of cost prescribed by their family doctor, every month. The cost of the project used to be Rs.3,000/year in 1970’s and is Rs.1,20,000/year in 2017.

Religion, Tradition and Customs

Group Upanayan as an act of social equality was started by late 1970’s. In an average 10-12 families conduct the Upanayana to their children in this event every year since then. The event used to cost around Rs. 15000 in the early years and Rs. 60000 today. A Satya Narayan Puja for the public and discourses on Srimad Bhagavath Geeta, Upanishad and other events are clubbed with this program.

Youth Development Services

Training the 10th standard students for the examination, banking service recruitment examination training, self employment skill development are annual activities. Sports and fine arts training programs are conducted regularly.

Community Census Program

This was conducted in 2016 which gave an insight in to the economic and social status of about 35000 members of the community within the city corporation limits, needs of the senior citizens of community and a palliative program for them is now planned.
